But is it necessary to do org— Family friendly, family friendly Now what do I have to do not to have this video demonetized…? I don’t know Hi everyone! Welcome to this new vid- My voice is acting up, how very nice from the start How are you, my little corns? So I wanted to announce that I and Jiho officially have a child, let me show him to you Look how cute! It’s a panda, that’s Chinese but dressed as an Italian, like Mario, because you know that us Italians all dress like this. He still doesn’t have a name So let’s pick one together in the comments and the name with the highest number of likes will become the official name of our child! How nice! Let’s start off with a bang! I have already thrown him on the floor I’m such a good father… What are we talking about today? Today’s a long awaited video Finally— no wait, long awaited by who? I don’t know, anyway I was waiting for this and today we’re talking about the craziest trends in Korea, now in 2018. Guys, there are a lot that will make you shiver and make [mispronounces word in Italian] make the hair on your body stand up, because I know that you have body hair, cause you always tell me “OMG you have hair on your arms” but I know that really you have body hair too! I really do profound talks sometimes I’m quite proud of myself. Let’s start! So let’s start off by explaining what is a trend because you’re thinking “Marco, I know what a trend is” But no, you don’t! Because a Korean trend is a bit different, or at least I think is is a bit different In case I’m wrong, tell me in the comments Because you know that I haven’t lived in Italy since a hundred years and uhm … Why do I make my life this hard with this kind of words? Only I know Anyway, I don’t live in Italy so I might be wrong, but a trend here in Korea is born in this kind of way. First, a lot of times it comes from television. So basically from a tv show, since in Korea you have a lot of tv shows where they go around and do all kind of things, they go to restaurants to eat and they also do challenges out in the streets So that you know, one of the shows that creates a lot of trends in Korea is called “Running Man” and it’s a show where the people basically run all around the city. If a shop happens to be featured in an episode of “Running Man” you can be sure that the next day that same shop will have a queue at the entrance that comes all the way to Bernareggio sull’Adda (a small town in the North of Italy). Even if you have never watched Running Man, don’t worry, because that shop will hang very big pictures from the very next day in front of the restaurant or shop as proof that famous people were there And people will *FIUUU* throw themself in there. Now that we’re in 2018, a trend may be also be born from social media, especially from Instagram. Actually, Instagram is so full of “aesthetic” pictures especially of cafés, of coffee shops that of course will make you want to go there. And if a person goes, then so will another one and another and another it’s a domino effect that has also involved [mispronounces word in Italian… again] myself. Do you remember when I went to the Dior Cafe? I went there because my Instagram was full of people that went to the Dior Cafe and I wanted to— I am easy to influence, ok? This is just to tell you that Jorea is like a single trend that changes about every month. So now I will explain what are all those more important, craziest trends that have occourred in particular in the last year, but then there will be very nice references also to the most beautiful trends that I have observed in the previous years. The first trend that I want to tell you about is without doubt game arcades, in particular claw machines, those machines where you can pull up plushies to be precise. And now you’ll tell me “But Marco, those kind of things have been around since the thirtheenth century!” Yes, I know those things have been around since the thirteenth century, but this year, in Korea, they are suddenly back in fashion and they have caused the construction of buildings, of game arcades from like nothing. When I came back from Italy, which was the last time, I went to Hongdae, that is a university area you know, with a lot of young and cheeky youngsters and I saw rising from the ground as it was nothing— Like guys, we’re talking about buildings It’s not like it’s just a tiny little game arcade that was just there, like that— NO, it was a whole building as a game arcade. But not just one, not two, but like three! BAM BAM BAM! But now let’s go on to make up and I’ve got to say that this year there’s been a lot of make up especially made for men because there’s been a sh*tton of make up lines for men. Because it’s only logical that if you do the same make up as that for women but you put that in a black packaging very sporty, very manly-I’ve-got-hormones, well that changes everything. Moreover, since this year I’ve seen many more boys wearing lip tints so the next step to lip balms are lip tints all the way down to even lipsticks. And by the way, Jiho wears lipstick as well in this period, because you know he’s a make up artist and he follows fashion trends. So like in the morning I would see Jiho, when we were in Jeju and he would open his… his… lipstick… how do you call them… the liquid ones He would take his lipstick and apply it like that and it was all good. By the way, I also know that Dior- I think it was Dior, Dior or Chanel now has created a make up line for men that is the same as that for women but with a different packaging. I think that in my country as well in the West uhm… yes the West there are going to be things like this Although, you guys, I really don’t understand what sense does it have What difference does it make if the packaging is black or white? You’re the ones who know. Anyways, you do you. And now let’s go to the sorest point because the true and real trends are those of the food stalls here in Korea. First, the food trend that was around when I first came to Korea was this— this cone, I don’t know how to explain it. It was like a bamboo cane, with a shape that was vaguely… Phallic is not a bad world, isn’t it? Phallic. And so you had to eat it the ice cream like this and it went to your mouth, really the mostest unconfortablest thing ever. Then we had the fuming ice cream, this ice cream that basically is just regular ice cream, but they put I don’t know what in there How do you call it? Dry ice maybe, that fumed, and everybody was like :OOO Smoke, how cool! And you had kilometer long queues in front of that small shop that did fuming ice cream. Then we had the tiramisù ice cream, the tiramisù ice was really something that I had to try as well Because I was like, I, as an Italian, see these kilometer long queues for that tiramisù ice then I have to try it. The shop sign said, I will never forget it, “The true Italian tiramisù” and in reality the ice cream was like you know the ice cream cone from McDonand’s? And on top they sprinkled a bit of cocoa powder, of different cheese or something like that. To be honest, it wasn’t that bad of course, it wasn’t the true tiramisù and definitely wasn’t worth the wait of like two and a half hours in the queue outside, that’s all. This year the ice cream trend has been the black and maybe pink ice cream, I don’t remember. Anyways I remember the black one and everyone was around with this black ice cream in hand and it tasted like… You know, I never found out what it tastes like, maybe rice…?
[coconut ash lol] That as well was not that good, apparently. Actually almost all the food trends are just an act and then eventually you try them and it’s not that great, I’ve got to say. And now let’s move on to slightly hotter topics, more and more cheeky, because
[hysterical gigle] Let’s move to “sektotil” You’ll understand why I’m laughing now “Sektodi” is something that has come up in the last months and it comes from “sek” that is for s*x and “tteodi” that is study. Now what do I have to do not to have this video demonetized? I don’t know— Let’s go with the family friendly explanation! “Sektteodi” is about creating study groups… uhm… where you have girls and boys, in these group chats, that is. If you join a group chat that’s called “sektteodi” you already know that uhm… during these study sessions, there may be some breaks that you can use to uhm… unwind. The person that explained to me the trend of this year told me “Well, you know Marco, university students are stressed in Korea so now they created these group sessions that are a bit more cheeky” And I say EXCUUUSE ME But is it necessary to do org—
Family friendly, family friendly And I say but is it necessary that you go to frickle frackle while you study to unwind? There’s plenty of other methods You’re gotta be kidding me whith this thing you’re doing? So just know that if you come to Korea and you read somewhere “Do you want to sektteodi?” Just know that it’s that. I don’t want to have any kind of responsability about these Korean trends, guys, I’m just saying. Talking about fashion, I’ve got to say that the absolute trend of 2018 were the pendant earrings for boys, especially crucifix. If you go to Hongdae in this period, the same place that I was talking about before, with all the youngsters you’ll see that a lot of these boys have these pendants that really remind me of the crystal chandelier that my grandpa has in his house. And particulary crucifixes, the majority of these pendants are crucifixes. So really if you go to university areas you’ll see more crucifixes there than if you go on a visit to Vatican City, I’m telling you. That’s the way it is this year, crucifixes and shiny pendants for every man. Another trend that went crazy this last year are animal cafes. Ok, maybe you know that in Asia there are animal themed cafes. At the start you had kittens and dogs and they were super cute and nice and we can all agree on this. These year there’ve been the worst animal cafes, you don’t even know. It’s just like a jungle. There’s the sheep cafe, the racoon cafe, the jungle inspired cafe where you have all the birds and the iguanas and the snakes The only one that’s missing is the rat cafe and the list is complete! These kind of cafes smell, so just the fact of going there to enjoy a coffee while you look at these animals in the wild nature of the cafe makes you think that that’s a good idea. But when you go in and see that the elephant in the cafe has just pooped that makes you not want to sip on your americano, just saying. The last trend that I want to talk about you and that was born in the last months is BTS merchandise. Now, if you know what Korea is, you know who BTS are. They are the most famous Korean boy group in the world at the moment. And they created these plushes in a collaboration with Line. Overall, a crazy merchandising that starts with t-shirts and goes all the way to fans. As you can see, I wan’t minimally affected from this trend and I haven’t ever bought anyting by BTS. Actually, their stuff is super cute so the kilometer long queues are understandable. I would really buy everything. Wait, I just realized that now that I showed you this 350 of you will ask me where to buy it. I don’t know if I’ll find an Amazon link but in case I find one, I’ll leave the link down below. Anyway, the message of this video is if you come to Korea and you see kilometric queues in front of the shops and the places that sell stuff that is not necessarily nice stuff, don’t stand in the queue for 3 hours and a half Just enjoy the landscape and be happy. And that was all for this video! You can follow me on Instagram and Facebook, if you want to buy me a coffee the link for my Kofi is in the description box! I’ll see you in the next video.
Pizza, carbonara, ciaooo Was I the only one that sang like this when I was a child with that Cher song? Tell me I wasn’t, please
